What is the value of your life?

I have added a short story explaining the value of life. This story I received through a Whatsapp video really made me think about the value of life. This story proves that we all have good value, but to realise the real value we have to polish ourselves and also be surrounded by good friends who can identify our reality and value.

A Short Story: The Priceless Lesson of Self-Worth

Once upon a time, a curious young child approached his father with a profound question: “Dad, what is the value of my life?” Rather than providing a direct answer, the father handed his son a rock and instructed him to sell it at the market. “If anyone asks for the price,” the father said, “simply raise your two fingers and remain silent.”

Excited, the boy hurried to the market, where he encountered a woman interested in purchasing the rock for her backyard garden. Curious about its value, she inquired, “How much does this rock cost? It seems special.”

Following his father’s instructions, the boy raised his two fingers, declining to utter a word. Surprisingly, the woman offered two dollars and eagerly bought the rock.

Returning home, the boy shared his successful sale with his father. Impressed, the father handed him the rock once more and directed him to the museum, instructing him to repeat the same gesture if someone expressed interest in buying it.

At the museum, an intrigued man approached the boy, captivated by the rock’s uniqueness. The boy obediently raised his two fingers, leaving the man astonished. He exclaimed, “I will gladly purchase it for 200 dollars!”

Bewildered by the significant increase in value, the boy rushed back to his father, excitedly recounting his latest encounter. The father nodded and proposed a final test, urging his son to visit the precious stone market.

Guided by his father’s wisdom, the boy showcased the rock to the owner of the market. The owner’s eyes widened in astonishment, recognizing the rock’s rarity. Eager to acquire it, he asked, “Where did you find this extraordinary rock? I must have it. What is the price?”

True to his father’s instructions, the boy raised his two fingers, unable to utter a single word. The owner, captivated by the rock’s value, declared, “I am prepared to buy it for 200,000 dollars!”

Overwhelmed by the immense offer, the boy hurriedly returned to his father, relaying the astonishing news. With a smile, the father responded, “Now, do you understand the value of your life? Your worth is not predetermined; it is influenced by the company you keep and the environment in which you place yourself. Just like this rock, you can transform and elevate your value by surrounding yourself with the right people who recognize and appreciate your true worth. Remember, everyone is like a diamond waiting to be polished, and it is by embracing our own value and surrounding ourselves with those who understand it that we can truly shine.”

Conclusion

When you acknowledge your values, set effective goals, and make plans and decisions that honour them, your life can be much easier and more successful with happiness. Always have faith in your abilities, boost self-confidence, and overcome self-doubt and negative self-talk. Never stop believing in yourself even for a second.
