1. Tarantula
Did you know that there are big spiders called Tarantulas that live in rainforests and jungles all around the world?
The name “Tarantula” actually comes from a port in Southern Italy called “Taranto”. In the olden days, when people from Taranto got bitten by a tarantula, they would dance like crazy to sweat out the venom!
But did you know that the venom from tarantulas is not very strong and can’t harm humans? So dancing like crazy wasn’t necessary.
It’s no surprise that people from Ancient Italy were scared of these spiders because tarantulas are one of the biggest spiders around and they have long, scary-looking fangs. They like to hunt at night and sneak up on their prey.
2. Vampire Bats
Did you know that there are bats called Vampire bats that live in dark and spooky places like caves, mines, hollow trees, and abandoned buildings? You can find them in Central and South America.
Vampire bats are different from other bats because they drink the blood of other animals to stay alive! But don’t worry, they don’t suck blood like the vampires in scary stories. Instead, they make a tiny cut on their victim and lick up their blood.
Vampire bats like to drink the blood of cows, horses, pigs, and birds. They are very good at finding their prey and they have special senses that help them locate where the blood is flowing in their victim’s body.

Goblin sharks are slow swimmers, and they sneak up on their prey quietly. When their dinner starts to swim away, that’s when the goblin shark strikes! But here’s where it gets really interesting – the goblin shark has a unique way of catching its prey.
It sticks its jaw out of its mouth and snatches up its victim! This is not like an ordinary shark bite, and it looks really strange. Even though the goblin shark looks a little spooky, it’s just doing what it needs to survive in the deep ocean where it lives.

Some hyenas are called “laughing hyenas” because they make a unique sound. They communicate with each other by making spine-tingling cackles that can be heard for miles around!

5. Black widow spider
Did you know that there’s a spider called the black widow that is one of the most dangerous and poisonous spiders in North America?
Black widows are usually black and have a distinctive red hourglass shape on their abdomen, but not all of them have this marking. It’s best to stay away from all black spiders, just to be safe.
If you get bitten by a black widow and don’t get treatment right away, it can be really dangerous and even deadly!
The black widow is called that because the female spiders often kill and eat their male partners, leaving them without a mate. So if a male spider gets caught by a black widow, he becomes a “widower” without a mate.
Even though they might seem scary, black widows are just doing what they need to do to survive in their environment. But it’s best to give them plenty of space and stay away from them to avoid getting bitten!

These creatures can run incredibly fast, up to 16 kilometers per hour, which is about the same speed as a squirrel! And if you think that’s scary, their jaws make up about a third of their body. However, despite their terrifying appearance, they don’t eat humans. They prefer to go after smaller prey like mice, so if you’re a little mouse, you might want to watch out!
9. Lamprey Eel
The Lamprey Eel is a unique type of fish that can live in both saltwater and freshwater. They can be found in oceans around the world. Lamprey eels are different from other fish because they don’t have jaws! Instead, they have a big round mouth full of sharp, circular teeth.
